The idea of a "Brevet" is already familiar to members of the "Caucasus Cycling Network." However, it’s new both for us and for you to learn that the official Paris–Brest–Paris (PBP) event has had, to date, only one Georgian participant: Aleksandre Gegetchkori.
He reached out to us after information about the Brevet Star Wars was shared and told us his story, which we think you’ll find interesting as well.
The "battle" to obtain the license began in 2018: it required months of waiting and contacting various people to finally receive a response from the Audax Club Parisien.
To participate in the 2019 Paris–Brest–Paris, it was necessary to complete and earn medals for the qualifying 200 km, 300 km, 400 km, and 600 km brevets.
Aleksandre planned all of them by himself, completed each one, and, as required, sent receipts from stores to official representatives to prove he was indeed present on the route at the time.
After completing the four brevets, he earned the title and medal of Super Randonneur.
Next came the 1200 km PBP event, and with tremendous effort, he managed to finish this incredibly challenging brevet as well.
