CCN invites you to an easy cycling tour series: Following Historic Battles 🚴‍♂️⚔️

The Capture of Zedazeni Fortress is one of the important episodes in Georgian history. In 1103, during the campaign to annex Kakheti-Hereti, King David the Builder launched his first attack on Zedazeni Fortress. At that time, Zedazeni was one of the strategic strongholds of the Kingdom of Kakheti-Hereti and controlled the main road from Inner Kartli.

The fortress belonged to Dzagan Abulethisdze, who was loyal to the King of Kakheti. In 1103, David the Builder captured Zedazeni Fortress from Kvirike IV. This event became one of the important steps taken by the Georgian royal authority to strengthen the feudal monarchy and advance the centralization of the kingdom 📜
